We're raising $40,000 for a school bus to carry 30 children to school everyday!
Parikrma runs four schools across Bangalore. Only one of them is home to the Next Steps Centre for Learning (NSCL), a specialist program built for students aged 10 and up who have identified additional learning and support needs. It is the only place across all four schools where these children can access a tailored curriculum and specialist teachers.
Because the program sits at just one school, children from the other three schools have to travel there to access it. One of those schools has no dedicated bus. Right now, getting to the NSCL means a bus journey of more than an hour each way, a two hour round trip, for a child who already needs more support, not less.
The result: 30 identified children are missing out on the specialist support they are entitled to, simply because there is no safe, reliable way to get them there.
